TLR SESSION № 007

A love story in five voices. The rush, the ask, the fall, the release, the afters. Lands somewhere soft, I promise.

Yooo, this week's Session is a love story sung by some BAD ASS singers.

It starts with the rush of finally finding someone, asks to be considered, and then… doesn't stay there.

There's heartbreak in here, and there's grief. But I promise it lands somewhere soft.

And because RuPaul said it best…

"If you can't love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?"

This week's album is all about exactly that.

Fair warning: you might feel seen.

Play it in order. I made it that way :)

Honestly, you don't need to listen to this whole album. I only need you to listen to one song from it.

Are y'all familiar with the Enneagram?

If not, the Enneagram is basically a map of your essence that sorts you into one of nine human archetypes:

  1. The Reformer

  2. The Helper

  3. The Achiever

  4. The Individualist

  5. The Investigator

  6. The Loyalist

  7. The Enthusiast

  8. The Challenger

  9. The Peacemaker

It's all about learning more about yourself so you can show up better for you and the ones you love.

This whole album is sung from the perspective of each of the nine types, which I find SO fascinating as someone obsessed with discovering everything about my personality through astrology, human design, Myers-Briggs, and BuzzFeed quizzes like "Which Shrek character are you?" (Fiona btw).

Ryan O'Neal, the brains behind this beautiful concept, even has a podcast with an Enneagram expert to pair with every song, if you feel like going down the rabbit hole.

But here's what stood out…

Ryan's intentionality is everywhere.

He left fingerprints in each song. Get this: he asked family and friends who identify with each type to contribute sounds for their number's song.

I'm a 7, the Enthusiast. Charming, free-spirited, magnetic, energetic, fun, adventure-seeking, and full of joy.

So some of the fingerprints in my song are ukulele, howling, rain, hiking, champagne and a party, laughter, water, balloons, kids playing, and airplane applause.

Basically, the sound of a really good day.

It's dope.

And Ryan wanted every type to feel honored and respected by this album.

NOW THE GOOD PART…

On my first listen, I felt completely seen.

It's not often a song hits the way these do.

I love the light and the depth my song carries.

It's special.

I want you to have a moment with your type and your song.
